River Floats on the New
What better way to spend a day in the summer than a lazy river float? There are two great areas to do this in the New River Valley. The first is McCoy's Falls in Blacksburg. The second as seen here is from in Radford near Bissett park (there are several spots that you can put in and take out so you can pick your own trip). Both areas have rentals and shuttles available, but as you can see below we have this down to a science where we bring our own 8 man floats and float down looking like a small city on the river. Don't forget the cold beverages, great tunes and a little bit of sunblock.

Virginia International Raceway in Danville, VA
Post #1
This trip was taken in part because my brother was participating in the races the weekend that I went. However, this is a nice drive and a beautiful road racing track that has some top notch events. To see what races are coming up next view the schedule on http://www.virclub.com/ . The weekend that I went had a little of everything. It was the BMW club weekend, vintage cars and some Formula style racers as well. Here are some pictures I took:

About the drive: VIR is Southeast of Roanoke and takes about 2 hours, it is mostly on main highways, but not interstates.
